Nepali Mahachand Bada Dashain
Dashain is the biggest festival of Nepalis. Dashain is also known as Vijay Dashami, which can also be known as the festival of Sanskrit and Hindus. It is celebrated almost everywhere in Nepal, but it is also celebrated in other countries like Sikkim, West Bengal, Assam, South India and Sri Lanka.|
This festival is celebrated annually in Nepal's Vikram Samvat and Nepal Samvat and it is celebrated mostly by the residents of Nepal as well as by the residents living outside Nepal. This festival is celebrated for 15 days. In which Nepalis living outside Nepal also come to Nepal to celebrate this festival and celebrate it with their families together.
This festival falls in the month of Kartik of the year. It is celebrated in this month. This festival is celebrated on the Shukla Paksha of the month of Ashwin and finally on the day of the full moon, which is the day when the full moon has risen completely. This festival ends on that day. Thus, people all over the country celebrate Dashain festival with great joy and happiness with their families.
This festival is celebrated by worshipping Goddess Durga Puja and sacrificing goats and sheep.
